Overview
Working with Viridian Glass at the Innovation Centre in Christchurch, we provided one of our 295 Spidercrane to assist with the installation of architectural glass. This is a new build in a large industrial complex. The glass install required the necessary care and access of any glazing jobs, and Preston Hire ensured it wasn’t a ‘pane staking’ effort!
Challenges
Whilst the overall task wasn’t overly complex, we knew there were ways we could help Viridian save costs and make the install easier.
We needed to consider personnel safety, keeping costs down, and a machine that would offer versatility and flexibility.
Our Solution
Our SuperCrane 295 was the machine for the job. This highly competent spider crane comes with the added features of a remote control and searcher hook. This delivered greater flexibility for Viridian and essentially was an additional set of hands when lifting the glass into position. The operator was able to safely guide the glass panels through the use of the remote control, at times using one hand to operate the remote whilst using his other hand to gentle guide the glass in the right direction. It was magic to watch, a real ‘reflection’ of his skills!
The physical size of this spidercrane was also beneficial as the customer was able to safely transport the machine by towing it onto a 2t excavator trailer. This allowed them to save on transportation costs whilst still having a machine that would easily deliver on the required tasks.
Summary
It was fantastic to work with a new customer and showcase some of the gear we have that could help them again in the future. Our Spidercrane allowed Viridian Glass to safely complete this job in a timely manner with equipment designed for the task at hand.
